Vercel Token Pass is a new monthly add-on for Vercel Pro teams: you pay $30 a month and get $80 of credit for two open-weight coding models, Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3. Vercel announced it on October 15, 2026, in early access. Here is what it covers, what it really costs, and the one catch.

What Vercel Token Pass is
According to Vercel's announcement, Token Pass runs through Vercel's AI Gateway. You create a Token Pass API key and use it in a coding agent or your own AI SDK agent. The docs include setup steps for fx, Claude Code, Codex, Cline and OpenCode.
Two models are covered today: Kimi K3 from Moonshot AI and GLM 5.3 from Z.ai. Vercel says more are coming. Requests are served by Wafer, an outside provider, with zero data retention: prompts and outputs are deleted after each request and aren't used for training.
Vercel Token Pass pricing
From the Token Pass docs and Vercel's pricing page, checked October 20, 2026:
- Token Pass: $30 per team per month, added to your Pro bill.
- Credit: $80 per billing period, shared by everyone on the team.
- Vercel Pro: $20 a month, with one developer seat included. Free Hobby teams have to upgrade first, so the smallest setup costs $50 a month in total.
- No overage charges: Token Pass never tops up or bills extra.
Requests are priced at per-token rates listed on each model's page, so how far $80 goes depends on how much your agent reads and writes. Unused credit doesn't roll over. A mid-period start is prorated, and if you cancel you keep the credit until the period ends, with no refund.
Early access spots are limited; when they're full, you see a waitlist instead of a subscribe button. Enterprise teams can't subscribe.
Prices at the time of writing this post (October 20, 2026). If you're reading this later, they may have changed, so check Vercel's site for today's prices.
The catch: when the credit runs out, requests just stop
Token Pass has no fallback. Once the $80 is used up, every request made with your Token Pass key fails with a 403 error until the next billing period. They never fall back to your regular AI Gateway credits. To keep going, you switch your agent to a regular AI Gateway key and pay normal rates. That's fine for a coding agent you can pause, but Vercel itself advises a regular key for production apps that must stay up.
Who Token Pass suits
Small teams already on Vercel Pro who want a predictable monthly budget for agent coding with open models. For more AI tools for builders, see our Exa review, our look at Gemini 4 Argon pricing, or try the AI tool finder. You can also browse the full tools directory.
