Pluto Door Review (2026)
Pluto Door review: a native Mac SSH client with an AI agent, Ori, that reads your servers, finds what’s wrong and explains it in plain English. Anything that changes a server waits for your yes, every edited file can be undone, and Pluto XOS turns each server into a desktop with 15 apps.
- Monthly: $4.99/mo
- Yearly: $49.99/yr (about $4.17/mo)
- Lifetime: $59 once
- Launched: Product Hunt, Oct 30, 2026
New launch, not tested hands-on. Pluto Door (“SSH client with an AI agent and a desktop for every server”) was in the Product Hunt feed on October 30, 2026 (6:10 PM ET). It is the app’s second launch; this one adds the Ori agent. Everything below comes from plutodoor.com. We have not connected a server to it.
Referral program exists; we have not joined. Pluto Door runs a referral program (plutodoor.com/referral, checked October 31, 2026): 30% of each customer’s first payment for a limited launch period, “usually 20%”, with email-only sign-up and monthly payouts. We have not joined it, so we earn nothing from links on this page.
Summary
Quick verdict: a well-priced Mac SSH client for people who look after a handful of Linux servers: Ori investigates on the server, shows every command and changes nothing without your approval, and the app also gives you tabs, a file browser, an editor and a server “desktop”. One plan unlocks everything for $4.99 a month, $49.99 a year or $59 once. AI usage runs on your own Claude or OpenAI key, billed by them. Mac only.
- Ask Ori what’s wrong in plain words; it reads logs and runs commands, shows every step and answers with cards.
- Bigger jobs come as a plan you approve once; deletions and anything that could cut off access ask again; every file Ori writes can be put back.
- Pluto XOS turns a server into a desktop with windows, a dock and 15 apps; Classic mode keeps a terminal, file browser and editor.
- Scheduled checks on disks, backups and certificates send a macOS notification; AWS, Google Cloud and Azure accounts can be queried in the same chat.
- Price: $4.99 a month, $49.99 a year or $59 once, all with every feature; 14-day free trial, no card.
- Servers, keys and history stay on your Mac (macOS Keychain); nothing is installed on your servers, per the site.

Features
From plutodoor.com and its Product Hunt page, October 31, 2026. Described, not tested.
- Ori, the AI agent: investigates, fixes and reports; plans you approve once, undo for every file, memory per server.
- Approval gates: reading is automatic; anything that changes a server waits for an explicit yes, and risky commands are flagged high risk.
- Pluto XOS: a desktop per server with windows, a dock, Spotlight and apps for files, processes, logs, services and installs.
- Hangar: install and update server software in a click, with the right commands for each distro.
- Scheduled checks: Ori checks disks, backups and certificates and sends a macOS notification.
- Cloud accounts: AWS, Google Cloud and Azure in the same chat, to find idle resources, open ports and waste.
- Privacy: secrets in command output are masked before reaching the model; keys live in the macOS Keychain; connections go straight to your servers and AI provider.
- Classic mode: Chrome-style SSH tabs, keyboard shortcuts, file browser and editor.
Who it’s for
- Developers and indie hackers who run a few Linux VPS boxes without a full-time ops person.
- People who want AI help on servers but insist on seeing and approving every command.
- Mac users who prefer a one-time $59 purchase to another subscription.
- Not for you if you are on Windows or Linux, or your company bans sending server output to Anthropic or OpenAI.

The catch
Mac only, AI costs extra, and an agent on production servers needs care.
- Mac only (macOS 12 or later, Apple silicon and Intel).
- Ori needs your own Claude or OpenAI key; that usage is billed separately by the provider.
- Server output (masked for secrets) goes to the AI provider you choose.
- An AI agent with SSH access can still be wrong; approvals and undo help, but you are the last check.
- A small independent app; “#1 SSH client” is the site’s own claim.
Verdict
- Use the 14-day trial on a staging server first to see how Ori’s plans read.
- Buy Lifetime ($59) if you expect to use it more than a year; it costs about the same as 12 months.
- Budget for AI: heavy Ori use adds to your Anthropic or OpenAI bill.

Worth trying if: you manage a few Linux servers from a Mac and want an assistant that explains problems and asks before it touches anything.
Skip it if: you need Windows or Linux support, or you never want server data sent to an AI model.
