Summary

Quick verdict: an easy all-in-one way to turn a plain-English idea into a working app, site or AI agent, with hosting, database, sign-in and payments already there. The free plan is good for a test, but at 25 message credits a month most real projects will need a paid plan.

  • Base44 is a no-code AI platform for building apps, websites and AI agents. You describe what you want, as a rough thought or a detailed spec, and it generates the code, structure, design and logic. You keep improving it by chatting with the AI.
  • Its site says the whole stack is included: backend and storage, user sign-in, a database, hosting, analytics and a way to get paid directly through Base44, so you don’t set up a server, database or payment provider yourself.
  • Base44 says you own what you build. Two-way GitHub sync exports the full source code to your own repo on paid plans that include it.
  • After you publish, built-in marketing tools include an SEO/GEO dashboard, AI-written social posts and app analytics.
  • Base44 is owned by Wix (the site footer reads © 2026 Wix.com Ltd.).
  • There is a free plan, and paid plans run from $20 to $200 a month, or $16 to $160 a month billed yearly.

What the plans mean in practice (our reading)

  • Message credits are what you spend chatting with the AI to build and change your app. Base44 does not list a fixed cost per message on the pricing page, so we can’t say exactly how many changes 25 or 100 credits buy.
  • Integration credits are a separate pool. Starter gets 20 times as many as Free (2,000 vs 100).
  • Going yearly on Starter costs $192 a year instead of $240.
  • Base44’s own FAQ says most app creators land on Starter, teams shipping several apps on Builder or Pro.

Features

From base44.com and base44.com/pricing, October 13, 2026.

  • Build by describing: type what you want; Base44 generates the code, structure, design and logic, then you iterate by chat.
  • Apps, websites and AI agents: apps with backend, auth, payments and hosting; websites with AI design, custom domain and SEO tools; 24/7 agents that connect to your tools and take actions.
  • Superagents: AI agents that automate workflows, manage data and connect to your tools.
  • Built-in stack: backend and storage, one-click integrations (Base44 names Gmail, Slack, Notion, Google Drive, HubSpot and Salesforce), analytics and payments.
  • Design tools: a shared board to see every page and leave notes, AI-generated video for pages, redesign suggestions with previews, and app-wide colors and fonts.
  • Marketing: SEO/GEO dashboard with an AI fix list, social post generation, and app analytics.
  • Code ownership: two-way GitHub sync to export the full source code.

Who it’s for

  • A founder or solo maker who wants a working MVP or internal tool without hiring developers: start free, then Starter.
  • A small team shipping several apps or a customer portal: Builder or Pro add more credits plus GitHub and model choice.
  • Someone running their main product on it: Elite adds the most credits and premium support.
  • Not for you if you want to know your exact monthly build cost up front, or need full control of your own hosting from day one.

The catch

Everything runs on credits, and the pricing page doesn’t say how far a credit goes.

  • The free plan gives 25 message credits a month and up to 5 apps, which is enough to try Base44 but not usually to finish a real project.
  • Custom domains, in-app code edits and unlimited apps start on Starter; GitHub sync and AI model choice start on Builder.
  • Services you plug in, like Stripe or OpenAI, bill you on top of your Base44 plan.

Verdict

  • Free ($0): the right first step. Build a small app and see how fast your 25 credits go.
  • Starter ($20/month, $16 yearly): for one or two personal or early-stage apps on your own domain.
  • Builder ($50/month, $40 yearly): if you want GitHub sync and model choice, or you run out of credits on Starter.

Worth it if: you want a real app, website or AI agent with hosting, sign-in, database and payments included, and you’re happy to build by chatting.

Skip it if: you need fixed, predictable build costs or want to manage your own server and stack.
