Skool Review (2026)

Skool review: A community, a classroom and a calendar in one simple group. Two plans, and the real difference is the transaction fee.

  • Hobby: $9/mo + 10% fee
  • Pro: $99/mo + 2.9% fee
  • Yearly: 2 months free
  • Best for: paid communities and courses

Summary

Quick verdict: the simplest way to run a paid community with courses, but on Hobby, Skool takes 10% of every sale, so the cheap plan stops being cheap once you earn.

  • Skool hosts online groups: a discussion feed, a classroom for courses, live calls and a calendar, in one place.
  • There are two plans. Hobby is $9 a month. Pro is $99 a month. Yearly billing gives “2 months free”.
  • Both plans list unlimited members, courses, videos and live calls.
  • The differences: Hobby charges a 10% transaction fee and has no custom URL and no affiliate program. Pro charges 2.9% and includes both.
  • That makes Skool’s pricing a simple question: how much will your group sell each month?
  • Honesty note: pricing-page review. We link to Skool with a labeled affiliate link and have not run a paid group ourselves.

Hobby or Pro? The break-even (our math)

Features

From the plan cards, October 9, 2026. Skool lists features, not usage caps.

  • Community feed: posts and discussion in one group. Unlimited members on both plans.
  • Classroom: unlimited courses and videos on both plans.
  • Live calls: unlimited on both plans.
  • Custom URL: Pro only.
  • Affiliates: Pro only. Your members can earn for referring new members.
  • What the page does not list: email marketing, funnels or a website builder. If you need those, Skool alone is not the whole stack.

Who it’s for

  • A coach or creator starting a paid community with a few members: Hobby, as long as monthly sales stay well under about $1,268.
  • A group already selling more than that each month, or one that wants a custom URL or a member affiliate program: Pro.
  • A free community that sells nothing: Hobby’s $9 is the whole cost, because 10% of $0 is $0.
  • Not for you if you need email sequences, sales funnels and a website in the same tool. See Systeme.io or Kajabi.

The catch

Hobby’s 10% fee grows with your success.

  • On Hobby, Skool takes 10% of every transaction. On Pro it is 2.9%.
  • At $2,000 a month in sales, Hobby costs $209 and Pro $157. At $5,000, Hobby costs $509 and Pro $244.
  • The $9 plan is only cheap while the group earns little. Move to Pro once sales pass about $1,268 a month (about $1,049 on yearly billing).

Verdict

  • Hobby ($9/month): right for free groups and small paid ones. Recheck the math every month.
  • Pro ($99/month or $82 yearly): right once sales pass the break-even, or if you want a custom URL or member affiliates.
  • Yearly billing: only after a few months on monthly, once you know the group will last.

Worth it if: your business is the community itself, and you want members, courses and calls in one simple place.

Skip it if: you need email marketing, funnels or a full website. Skool does not list those.

Not tested hands-on. No tool can promise members or sales.
